The ProArms Podcast Team has gone off in different directions over the last month or so and this episode reflects on some the the matches we have participated in. In our first segment we hear about the Blackwater Shootout, attended by John, Terri and Chris as well as our friend Bud, whos we have heard from before on this podcast. Next we hear about the Police Service Pistol match attended by Gail and Mas in Tallahassee FL at the Pat Thomas Public Safety Institute. Finall we cover the BUG match held at First Coast IDPA.
We are bringing you Part Two of the interviews we recorded at the 2009 IDPA Nationals. This episode we feature interviews with four very different female shooters. First we talk to Joyce Wilson, the Executive Director of IDPA. Second we talk to Nikki Pinto a 16 year old high school student, shooting her first national match and she did a great job, remember her name because she’s going to go far. Our third interview is with Randi Rogers of Team Glock (also known as Holy Terror) who we caught a brief interview with between stages. Finally we talk with Cyndi Dalena of the First Shots Program.

These are the voices of the Nationals! Hear from Curt Nichols, the long-standing Stock Service Revolver national champ who devoted about three full time months worth of work to running this year’s event as match director. Hear from Robert Ray, who is the voice of International Defensive Pistol Association at headquarters on a daily basis, and the de facto arbiter of the sport’s rules. Hear from John Sayle, a prime mover first in IPSC in the US and then one of the founders of IDPA, and still a member of the IDPA Board, who was there on the ground when the whole movement developed. Fascinating listening, even for those who don’t shoot IDPA! The match was held at the beautiful U.S. Shooting Academy in Tulsa OK a must see destination for all shooters.
But wait, there’s more!! We had so many good interviews from the match that we decided to split them up into Two!, count ‘em, Two Podcasts. Watch for the ProArms Broad-Cast. We interview Joyce Wilson, the Executive Director of IDPA, Randi Rogers, winner of High-Lady at the Nationals, Nikki Pinto a 16 year old shooter at her first national match and Cyndi Dalena who runs the First Shots Program.
So check back soon for more!!!

Since we started the ProArms Podcast we seem to have mentioned IDPA, the International Defensive Pistol Association in almost every episode. So, we figured that it was time we did an episode where we talk about IDPA. All of us compete in a variety of the shooting disciplines but the one we all have in common is IDPA. We recorded this episode after a match at our local club, First Coast IDPA held at Gateway Rifle and Pistol Club in Jacksonville Florida. We are joined by a visitor from Italy, Dr Maurizio Lai, with whom we talk about gun owner issues and shooting IDPA in Italy, as well as what he had to go through traveling with his guns to the US. Like many of us Dr. Lai is a big Glock and Smith & Wesson fan. Below is a picture of his Glock 19 chambered for the 9 x 21 cartridge. Also joining us is First Coast IDPA Match Director Dr. Ed Sevetz and his friend Donna from Australia, who fired her first shot at the match.
The next afternoon the ProArms team got together to discuss the history of IDPA and the valuable lessons that can be learned when participating in a match. We are joined by Bud Dees, a Firearms Instructor, who gives us his impressions of IDPA as a first time shooter in that arena. We are also joined by Matt Morgan, who is part of the ProArms family, and has been shooting competitively for several years now. Matt is pictured on our banner; he’s the second from the right.
In this episode the ProArms team discusses gun reviews in general, where we get the guns, how we test the guns, what we look for in a gun in general. How we different from the gun magazines and if we are beholden to anyone when we review a gun are discussed by the group. This week your producer is on the road collecting more interviews. I visited the Ruger plant this week and will bring you the interview I did there soon. More great interviews and gun and gear reviews to come so keep listening. the down side of being on the road is that while I thought I had all of the same software on my laptop as I do on my desktop it turns out I am missing the one thing that keeps out podcast from sounding like we are chipmunks when you listen online. I tried but won’t know until someone tells me as I don’t seem to be able to replicate the problem on my computer. The good news is, if you have that problem you can always download the episode and play it back in itunes or zune or whatever else you would like to use ans I will fix it when I get home. We have lots of new things coming up so stay tuned. Thanks for listening to the ProArms Podcast.
