035 The Bison King

This is a story of justice gone wrong. It doesn’t include guns or shooting but there are many lessons to be learned here.

If you spend any time on the various internet fora you will come across many discussions of what would happen if one is involved in a self-defense shooting. You will hear people state something to the effect of “It doesn’t matter what kind of gun, ammo, trigger etc. that I use, all that matters is if it’s a good shoot.” The people who actually work in the courts have seen otherwise. Often, personal agendas and political correctness drive lawsuits that have no merit, and occasionally, they even engender wrongful prosecutions.

Here, Attorney Jim Fleming details one of the latter. It wasn’t a shooting case, but the same dynamics that occurred in this incident will be familiar to anyone who has ever been wrongfully accused.

You can get the book “The Bison King” at Tate Publishing or at Amazon for the Kindle.

015 The 10mm Review & The Harold Fish Case

The ProArms Team discusses the 10mm. Mas covers the History of the 10mm and the group discuss the various guns and cartridges available.

Next we listen to a gentleman who was involved with the Harold Fish case from Arizona. Harold Fish defended himself from an irate attacker, while walking on the Arizona Trail, with a 10mm Handgun and is currently in prison after being found guilty of Second Degree Murder. In the court case the 10mm pistol he used was demonized as well as his choice of hollowpoint ammo for it. We’re not telling you don’t carry a 10mm or don’t carry hollowpoints, we’re showing you an example of how you can be doing everything correctly and still be in trouble. JR Robie was Harold Fish’s Concealed Carry Instructor. Check out MSNBC for their story on Mr Fish and don’t forget to check out the evidence pictures. Read Mr. Fish’s statement at the sentencing hearing, imagine how this could happen to any of us. J.R. tells us what he knows about Harold’s story and a little bit about this case. Mr Fish is appealing his case and could use all the help he can get.

010 Save the Blue Trail Range; A conversation with Bill Allard

The ProArms podcast is on the road again. This time we visit the Blue Trail Range in Connecticut. The range has been in existence for over 60 years and now they have been under siege by a developer who wants to shut down the range. Gail talks with range owner David Lyman about the problems they have been facing. If you would like to follow what’s happening there or can help them out in any way visit SaveBlueTrailRange.org.

Below is a photo of the Blue Trail Range with the mountain we talk about on the Podcast in the background.

In the second segment Massad and Gail talk to a living legend: Bill Allard. Bill was part of the well known New York City Stake-Out Squad, which was disbanded in the 1970’s. First we talk about the work he is doing now with American Defense Systems, Inc. Then he talks to us about some of his experiences and the mindset needed to survive a gunfight. You can read more about Bill Allard and his late partner in Paul Kirchner’s excellent book, “Jim Cirillo’s Tales of the Stakeout Squad.”

005 SIG P250, Marty Hayes

In this episode we first visit with Marty Hayes who tells us about the new Armed Citizen’s Defense Network. A network of armed citizens and lawyers who provide education and support for the legal issues that we face as armed citizens. Then we talk a little about The Firearms Academy of Seattle where Marty and his wife Gila run one of the premier shooting schools in the nation. You can contact either of these fine endeavors at the links above.

In the second segment the ProArms team gets together to discuss the SIG P250, a new concept in firearms, a completely modular system where to trigger assembly is the serial numbered part of the gun. Everything else is interchangeable, including the caliber of the gun. The ProArms team really liked this gun; both the modular concept and the feel of the trigger made it unique.
