Jargon Alert!
Sometimes the ProArms Podcast Team will slip into to use of *Jargon* that newer shooters may not recognize or proprietary words peculiar to the ProArms team. We make every effort to catch these and explain them in our Podcast but every once in a while one slips by. If you catch us using a term that you are not familiar with call us on it at the GRRN forum (our place for comments) and we’ll explain for you there and probably post it here.
“Flinger-Dinger” is the local terminology (in Suwannee County anyway) for what is more commonly known as the Rotator target. For complete description go to the link provided here for Safe Direction, the steel target company run by Steve Camp in Illinois.
H-Grip - The h-grip is a grasping technique used to get the finger deeper onto the trigger of a handgun, usually when the gun is too large for the user’s hand in the dimension of trigger reach, i.e., the distance from the back of the grip frame to the center of the trigger. Turning the hand on the gun in this fashion forces hand and thumb to form a lower case letter “h” with the forearm, hence its name. Recoil now hits the base of the shooter’s thumb instead of the web of the hand. This batters the joint and can cause semiautomatic pistols to malfunction.
J Frame - Small Revolver made by Smith&Wesson
Laser - Light Amplification by the Stimulated Emission of Radiation
TASER - Tom A. Swift’s Electric Rifle
